Cameron Adams, co-founder of the popular design platform Canva, and his wife Lisa Miller have joined the Giving Pledge, a global initiative encouraging the world’s wealthiest individuals to donate most of their wealth to charitable causes. In doing so Adams, whose net worth is estimated at $6.81 billion in 2024, and Miller have dedicated most of their money towards addressing environmental issues and preserving ecosystems.
The Giving Pledge, founded by billionaires Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates, now counts over 240 high-net-worth individuals from across the globe. Adams and Miller’s commitment to environmental causes aligns with their long-standing commitment to nature conservation, which has been the focus of their investment venture the Wedgetail Foundation.
Their decision to join the Giving Pledge is part of a broader commitment to preserving the natural world. Though the Wedgetail Foundation, the couple has long focused on nature conservation and environmental restoration.
“Nature nourishes us, sustains us, inspires us, and shapes how we live,” Adams said in a statement.
“But today, many of the ecosystems that support our lives are being destroyed – and our future depends on how we choose to save them.”
Their recent pledge adds to a growing list of philanthropists who are using their wealth to address pressing global issues. Canva’s other co-founders, Melanie Perkins and Cliff Obrecht, signed the pledge in 2021, committing to leverage their platform’s success to support charitable causes.
Pledges like this show how financial support from major donors can play a meaningful role in driving environmental action and building a sustainable future – helping charitable causes continue their work, protecting ecosystems and supporting the communities that rely on their support.
